Boeren Met Worst
Boerenmetworst is a sausage made in The Netherlands. It contains pork and porkfat, and gets its name from the fact that it got eaten by farmers (boeren) working in the field. It is composed from the left over bits of the slaughter of pigs. These left overs are known as ‘mett’ in old world dutch, hence the name Boeren-met worst. So yeh, its a corny joke that only works in dutch, because ‘met’ also means ‘with’. So we have ‘Farmers without sausage’ and ‘Farmers with sausage’.
